Nature imagery comes up a lot in the first few chapters. Explain what you make of the last paragraph in Ch. 4.
I believe the last paragraph is saying that the Sun is Janie’s new romance entering her life, and the night is representing the happiness that might fade away. The book says, "They sat on the boarding house porch and saw the sun plunge into the same crack in the earth from which the night emerged." One of the nature imagery parts could have been when the sun was going down as she was starting something with a new man Joe. I hope she loves Joe and it doesn’t turn into the last relationship she had where she didn’t even love the man.

I agree with you Batu, I think that the sun going down is the start of her new relationship with a new man. Good post.
